The Fabbrica's Milano al Duomo programme also offers free guided tours, by booking only. Booking opens about 30 days ahead, so check the official calendar, and the language of the tour, if your dates are fixed.
When a guide is worth it
Yes if the building is the point of your trip and you want the story of it: why a Lombard city built in Candoglia marble, and what centuries of work left behind.
No if you have an hour and want the view. Buy the rooftop with the cathedral and spend the saving elsewhere.
Maybe with children. The audio and video guides let them stop when they have had enough, which a group tour won't.
Before you book
- Check the coverage tags against what you already hold. A rooftop ticket plus a tour with the rooftop is money spent twice.
- Check whether the terrace section uses the stairs or the lift.
- Read the meeting point and time on your booking.
- The dress code and bag rules apply on every tour, and terrace visits can be suspended in bad weather.
- Pairing a tour with the Last Supper needs its own booking logic, because those slots are limited.
