Before you go

Three decisions before you book

Rooftop or not. The terraces are a separate paid area. At official prices, adding the cathedral to a stairs rooftop ticket costs only €6 more, so on a first visit it makes sense to do both. The options are laid out on Duomo tickets.

Stairs or lift. The lift reaches the first level only, and the way down is on foot for everyone. If your knees are deciding, read stairs or lift first.

Which day. The Museum closes on Wednesdays, and since 1 November 2026 official tickets are valid only on the date you choose. Celebrations also cut visiting time on set days, so check the opening hours before you fix a date.

Where to buy

Tickets are sold at the ticket offices and on the official site. Tiqets, GetYourGuide and Headout are on the official list of authorised resellers, and their tickets are the rows on this page.

With more time in Milan, pair the cathedral with the Last Supper or La Scala. A city pass can cover it too.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Duomo free to enter?
A sightseeing visit needs a ticket. Entry for prayer, Mass and the sacraments is free and has its own door and hours: see Mass at the Duomo.
How much is a Duomo ticket?
At official prices, Duomo + Museum is €10 and Duomo and Terraces starts at €22 by stairs. Every official price is in the table on the tickets page.
Can you go to the top of the Duomo?
You can walk the roof. The highest point open to visitors is the Central Terrace at 45 m; the Madonnina stands far above it, at 108.5 m.
Is this the official Duomo website?
No. This is an independent guide. The cathedral is run by the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo, which sells tickets at its ticket offices and on its own site.
