In short
- Official fast-track is a seasonal service, so check that your date is on sale before you plan around it.
- The Fast-Track Pass (€32, reduced €16 at the official price) gives skip-the-line access to the terraces by lift, plus the Duomo, Museum, Archaeological Area and St Charles Crypt.
- Fast-Track Terraces (€28, reduced €14) covers the rooftop alone.
- Fast-Track Pass access runs 10:00–17:10, last ticket 17:00, and from 9:30 in June to August.

What the extra money buys

The Pass is the better deal of the two. It costs €6 more than the standard lift ticket, and it also covers the Archaeological Area and St Charles Crypt, which are €5 and €3.50 as add-ons. If you want those two anyway, they alone would cost more than the €6 difference.
Fast-Track Terraces is harder to justify: €10 for priority on the roof alone. It suits a visitor with a train to catch, or one who has already seen the cathedral.
Who should buy it
- Buy it if you want the whole complex in one day, and you are happy with the lift.
- Skip it if you only want the cathedral. Official fast-track tickets always include the roof.
- Consider a guided tour if you would use a guide anyway, since many carry priority entry.
What to expect on the day
The Pass enters by the far south façade door and covers the Museum on the day after your chosen date too; everything else stays on that one date. Security still applies: the rules ask visitors to empty pockets of metal objects and open their bags, so have them ready. Military personnel enter free but not on Fast-Track.
Hours can change for celebrations, so read the calendar of changes. Priority doesn't get round the dress code either.
